Walsh mostly fell out of the rotation with the roster fully healthy but has seen increased on-court opportunities more recently, tallying 21 minutes in a Celtics win over the Blazers and 13 minutes against the 76ers. His only Maine Celtics appearance this season came at his request: “I would have been just sitting in my crib doing nothing. This is a way better alternative.” Regardless of the fluctuating on-court opportunities, Walsh has embraced the mentorship he’s received from the Celtics’ more veteran players. “Being the youngest on the team, I think that he’s learning so much from these vets,” Sandra said. “And I love this team. I really do.”
To this day, his mother still views basketball as a saving grace. “When he was first diagnosed, we didn’t know what was going to take his mind off of it,” Sandra said. “So, I see basketball probably a little different than other mothers.” “It saved my son, literally, from a life of insecurity and pain and that kind of suffering that I see. The fact that he’s become such a figure, an image, and a mentor for other kids with alopecia — and he’s been able to do that through basketball.”

Onestamente io mi aspettavo che il ragazzo avesse un po' più spazio nelle rotazioni, soprattutto mi aspettavo che questo spazio se lo prendesse, che facesse prestazioni significative invece non mi ha mai convinto quando quest'anno l'ho visto impegato.
Ha un potenziale da difensore assolutamente d'elite, ha gambe straordinarie, corre il campo a velocità assoluta, ma ancora non è sbocciato.
In attacco non ha tantissimi colpi, deve assolutamente mettere in faretra un tiro da tre credibile e da questo dipenderà emninentemente il suo futuro.
Ha una crescita lenta e per certi versi mi ricorda Aaron Nesmith come percorso potenziale.
Dalla prossima estate il suo contratto sarà Team Option, vedremo se
deciderà di investire ancora sul ragazzo considerando che, essendo oltre il second apron, il suo contratto peserà fiscalmente ben oltre i 2.2 milioni di valore.
Io spero che un altro anno gli venga dato.
